The Shortlist

Last swept August 2026

Two brands made it through. Both are white labels — meaning the name on the header is not the company holding the Gambling Commission licence — so we print the licensed operator, the account number and the licence reference on each one. Check them yourself before you decide.

The Method

Weightings fixed · published in full

Six pillars, fixed weightings, applied identically to every brand. Nothing here is negotiable and nothing is for sale. If a score moves, it is because something at the operator moved.

01 Register first

Licensing

We open every assessment on the Gambling Commission public register, match the trading name to the licensed operator, and publish the account and licence reference so you can repeat the check yourself.

Weighting — 30% of final score
02 Money out, not in

Banking

Deposit options are easy. We weight the exit: withdrawal methods, stated processing windows, minimum and maximum limits, and whether verification is requested before or after a payout is asked for.

Weighting — 25% of final score
03 Read the small print

The Terms

Wagering multipliers, maximum conversion caps, expiry windows and excluded categories. A headline offer only counts once we have read what unlocks it — and what voids it.

Weighting — 20% of final score
04 Ask a hard question

Support

We contact live chat as an ordinary customer with a question that cannot be answered by a script, then log the response time, the accuracy and whether a human ever appears.

Weighting — 10% of final score
05 Thumb test

Mobile

Load speed on a mid-range handset over 4G, whether the lobby survives rotation, and how many taps stand between the account screen and the deposit-limit control.

Weighting — 10% of final score
06 Brakes included

Safer Tools

Deposit caps, loss caps, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion. We check the tools exist, that they are reachable in under four taps, and that GamStop is honoured.

Know
When To
Stop

Gambling should cost you no more than any other evening out. If it has started to feel like a way to fix something, that is the moment to use the brakes — not later. Every operator we cover is legally required to give you deposit caps, loss caps, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion, free and on demand.

Questions

All questions →

We earn commission when a reader opens an account through one of our outbound links. That commission never changes a score. Our method is published in full on the About page with fixed weightings, and no brand can buy a position, a rating or a paragraph. Our full commercial arrangement is set out on the Disclosure page.

Open the Gambling Commission public register and search the operator name — not the brand name. Many British-facing casino brands are white labels running on someone else's licence, so the trading name on the header will often differ from the licensee. We publish the account number and licence reference for every brand we cover, plus a direct register link, so the check takes about fifteen seconds.

A white label is a brand that operates under another company's Gambling Commission licence and technology. Winissimo runs on ProgressPlay Limited; the British Parimatch offering runs on BV Gaming Limited. The arrangement is entirely legitimate and extremely common — but it matters, because your contract, your complaint route and your funds sit with the licensed operator rather than with the brand name.

GamStop is the free national self-exclusion scheme. One registration blocks your access to every operator licensed in Great Britain for a period you choose — six months, one year or five years — and every licensee is required to honour it. If you feel your gambling is no longer a choice you are making freely, it is the single most effective step available to you, and it takes a few minutes.

Because a welcome offer is a one-off and a withdrawal process is forever. A generous headline number attached to a forty-times wagering requirement and a low conversion cap is worth less than a modest offer you can actually clear. Banking carries 25% of our score; promotional terms carry 20%, and we grade them on clarity rather than size.
